At Leading Note Studios, we are dedicated to Teaching the Joy of Music—creating a fun, encouraging, and personalized environment where students of all ages and skill levels can thrive. Since opening our doors in 2009, we’ve been committed to offering high-quality music education through private lessons, group classes, performance opportunities, and unique community events. With our flagship location in Encinitas and our newest location in San Marcos, CA, Leading Note Studios continues growing as a vibrant hub for musicians and music lovers.
Our studio offers a wide variety of lessons and classes, including piano, voice, guitar, drums, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, and ukulele. We also offer group classes such as Rock Band and Musical Theatre Productions for students ready to collaborate and perform, and Adult Jam Nights for those rediscovering their love for music later in life. For our youngest musicians, we offer early childhood music classes that encourage creativity and rhythmic development in a playful, age-appropriate way.
Leading Note Studios is more than just a place to take music lessons. Our students are regularly invited to perform in recitals, participate in musical theater productions, perform at community events, and even compete in regional competitions. We believe in providing a well-rounded musical experience that builds confidence, discipline, and lifelong memories.
Over the years, our commitment to excellence has been recognized both locally and nationally. We’ve been voted Best Music Studio in San Diego multiple times and have earned awards from organizations like San Diego Family Magazine and The Coast News Readers Poll. In 2025, we were honored with the Award of Excellence in Music Education and named National Music School of the Year—recognitions that reflect the passion, innovation, and dedication of our talented instructors, many of whom are professional musicians, composers, and performers.
We take pride in our personalized approach to music education. Our teachers work closely with each student to tailor lessons to their goals, learning style, and musical interests—whether that’s classical repertoire, pop, jazz, or composing original music. We also believe in the power of variety and collaboration, regularly inviting guest teachers and clinicians to provide fresh perspectives and inspiration.
At Leading Note Studios, we truly believe music has the power to transform lives. From a child’s first piano lesson to an adult’s return to the guitar, every musical journey is important to us. We’re proud to have created a warm, welcoming space where creativity, connection, and the joy of music come first.
Come see why Leading Note Studios is San Diego’s favorite place to learn music—and why our community continues to grow. Let’s make music together!
